Oakley Reveals Fortnite Eyewear Collection

Fashion brand teams up with proto-metaverse for two new eyewear options, the Helux and Hydra

Rugged fashion brand Oakley and Fortnite are kicking off a new multi-year partnership with Oakley’s new Fortnite Eyewear collection. IMG facilitated the new collaboration that has just released and will be exclusively available on Oakley’s official website.

The new Oakley Fortnite eyewear collection includes two eyewear designs. Both designs have the Fortnite Battle Royale’s Victory Crown etched on the lens. Oakley’s Helux Fortnite utilises the eyewear brand’s Prizm Gaming 2.0 Lens Technology, which reduces glare from OLED and LED screens and provides sharp visual acuity. The Oakley Hydra Fortnite eyewear boasts a golden Prizm 24k lens perfect for shielding the wearer’s eyes while outdoors.

Oakey isn’t the first fashion brand to partner with Fortnite. Famed fashion brand Ralph Lauren launched a digital clothing line in Fortnite in 2022. Balenciaga has also partnered with the popular game/ metaverse platform, bringing virtual high fashion to Fortnite avatars. Likewise, Blvck teamed up with Fortnite in January for its Fortnite Clothing Collection for Gamers. The collection included shorts, hoodies, t-shirts and accessories featuring iconic in-game characters.

Chica represents the Oakley Fortnite Collection

Pioneering the Oakley Fortnite collection is creator Chica, aka Maria Lopez. Chica is the first Latina LBGTQ+ creator to join Fortnite’s Icon Series.

“I’m so excited that my favourite game and favourite glasses brand are now partnering,” says Chica. “In all my years of playing Fortnite and seeing all of the different collaborations, I’m so happy to be at the centre of this one coming together. I can’t wait to share with my community!”

The popular metaverse platform doesn’t limit itself to fashion collabs. Fortnite has also partnered with various musical artists for virtual concerts. Rapper Eminem will perform at the platform’s Big Bang event next month. Players can purchase three Eminem avatar outfits: Rap Boy, Marshall Never More and Slim Shady. Additionally, Ed Sheeran hosted a virtual concert in iHeartMedia’s Fortnite location, iHeartLand, in October.
