The Boys Are Coming to Call of Duty

Comic book turned Prime streaming series now flies into FPS videogame

Popular Amazon Prime streaming series The Boys is coming to Season 04 Reloaded of Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare II. Beginning July 12th, The Boy’s content came just in time for Vondel’s Battle Royale, final event in the RAID Special Ops experience. Joining Call of Duty are Homelander, Starlight and Black Noir.

“Task Force 141 members are in captivity. Vondel is a complete Warzone™. [[REDACTED]] is moving quick on their master plan to shake the foundation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare® II . . . and The Boys are here too: They may be ‘experts at exterminating Supes,’ but can they hunt down Operators now? Well, if they insist,” states a recent Call of Duty blog post.

The crossover also brings Temp V to the game, a serum in The Boys that temporarily grants anyone who consumes it a random super ability. In-game, the serum gives the player one of four abilities at random which goes into the player’s Field Upgrade slot. Abilities include Charge Jump, Electric Shockwave, Laser Vision and Teleport.

These super abilities give players an advantage in battle, especially Homelander’s Laser Vision. Players are already complaining that the Laser Vision ability is too powerful. Likewise, some fans feel the addition of superpowers to the mostly realistic combat game is, in short, ridiculous.

“Forcing this stuff on people is a good way to get people to stop playing your game; none of my friends have interest in playing the game until this ‘event’ is over,” comments one Redditor in a  Call of Duty Warzone thread. “There’s absolutely no reason why this couldn’t be a different game mode; I’d rather just go play Fortnite, where stuff like this is more fitting.”

The Boy’s abilities are available in all Warzone playlists except Ranked Play. Temp V is more common in Battle Royale modes than DMZ modes.

The Boy’s Call of Duty bundles

Additionally, Season 04 Reloaded now has several The Boys-Themed bundles. The Boys: Starlight bundle includes Starlight as an Operator and three Tracer Weapon Blueprints. The Boys: Black Noir bundle features Black Noir as an operative, the ‘Unspoken Word’ Sniper Rifle, and the ‘Quiet Rage’ Assault Rifle Tracer Weapon Blueprints with Dismemberment. Built for stealth, the bundle also includes Noir’s Blades.

Finally, The Boys: Homelander bundle includes Homelander and three Tracer Weapon Blueprints with Dismemberment. It also includes the ‘Bravado’ Assault Rifle and the ‘Vought Issue’ Assault Rifle. All three bundles cost 2,400 COD points and come with a weapon charm, loading screen, weapon sticker and emblem.
