EDM star Oliver Heldens is celebrating Season Four of Call of Duty: Warzone with a new game anthem. The track takes inspiration from the game’s new Battle Royale map Vondel. Titled Sound of Vondel and featuring sounds from the game, operators playing in the Vondel map can listen to Helden’s new track in-game. The song is also available on Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube.

The new dance track expresses the action player expect from Call of Duty. It also leans into the artist’s techno-sounding alter-ego (HI-LO). Sound of Vondel even features the voice of Captain Price, a fan-favourite member of Task Force 141.

Tracks named after CoD weapons

Heldens, who is signed with Spinnin’ Records, named some of his first tracks after Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 weapons, including Thumper, Stinger, Buzzer and Juggernaut. Considering this, it’s unsurprising that he jumped at the chance to write the anthem.

“It felt like a dream come true when I heard that Activision wanted me to create an official anthem for their new Warzone map, Vondel! I wanted to create something in my techno-focused alter ego HI-LO’s style, mixed with sound bites from the game, like the Captain Price vocal liner/sample and elements/sounds from their soundtracks, and with a cinematic feel to it, more on the melodic techno side of things,” says Heldens. “That same evening, I came up with that spooky arpeggio lead melody for the big break, the epic cinematic bridge into the Captain Price vocal, leading into the big drop with the heavy chugging bass sequencer, where I end up adding some super epic strings the next day.”

Heldens also incorporated tonal FX and sounds from the Kill or Capture soundtrack into Sound of Vondel. He states he is delighted with the final version of the track.

Vondel is a medium-sized map for up to 18 Operators in DMZ mode and 72 in Resurgence mode. The map features densely packed city streets, canals and large buildings to explore. Players can discover parkour routes and uncover the map’s many secrets.
