K-pop band Blackpink is launching a new metaverse experience on Roblox. Blackpink the Palace aims to connect the band’s fans, known as Blinks. The experience, which launches today, comes only months after the launch of K-pop band Twice launched its fan hub on the Metaverse platform. Within the experience, Blackpink fans can socialise and explore areas inspired by scenes from the band’s music video. Additionally, Blinks can enjoy digital fashion and signature choreography.
Fans can also take pictures with the band members’ avatars and earn in-experience currency for decorating and hosting Blackpink-themed parties. Blinks can also buy signature Blackpink outfits and emotes for their avatars. Additionally, users can traverse caverns below the palace and mine crystal for upgrading items.
Girl band Blackpink released its first single in 2016. The band, boasting over 90 million YouTube subscribers, became the first Asian artist to headline the Coachella Festival in 2023. Blackpink The Palace is the band’s first permanent Roblox experience. The experience will be updated with new content throughout the year.
“We look forward to welcoming fans from all over the world to a beautiful virtual palace where they can party, connect, and experience everything Blackpink beyond the constraints of time and space,” says Hyojung Lee, Head of IPX Division at Korean music company YG Plus. “Fans will be surprised to see and have an opportunity to take selfies with avatars of all four members of Blackpink –Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa.”
