Assassin’s Creed Mirage Gets A Haptic Gaming Vest

OWO and Ubisoft partner to let players feel every stab wound and punch on the game’s release this October

French video game publisher Ubisoft has revealed the OWO Haptic Gaming System Assassin’s Creed Mirage Edition. The haptic gaming system, which will likely retail for about $500, includes an OWO device, skin, 20 gel pads, a charging cable, a storage pouch and a digital copy of the game. The OWO skin is a haptic shirt gamers can wear while playing to feel synthesised sensations across their torso and upper arms. The Assassin’s Creed Mirage edition’s OWO skin features a design inspired by the upcoming game.

The OWO haptic gaming system synthesises sensations such as light and severe abdominal wounds, gunshots, punches and insect bites. Microsensations make up each of the system’s sensations. For instance, the gunshot wound sensation comprises three microsensations, entry wound, exit wound and bleeding.

OWO haptic gaming system users can calibrate sensations via the My OWO App. Users can calibrate each microsensation ‘in every muscle in the specific calibration’. The haptic gaming system is also compatible with games titles like Arizona Sunshine, Rocket League, Fortnite and Halo Infinite.

Fabian Salomon, Lead Producer at Ubisoft Bordeaux said, “By leveraging OWO’s ground-breaking technologies and expertise, we are able to immerse players in the world, sounds and sensations of Assassin’s Creed Mirage in an innovative and enhanced way. We can’t wait for our players to discover and enjoy the coming-of-age story of Basim with the power of OWO.”

OWO founder and CEO Jose Fuertes said, “We are excited to unveil our strategic partnership between Ubisoft and OWO. This dynamic alliance merges the immersive gameplay of Ubisoft’s world-class video games with the cutting-edge technological prowess of OWO. It is an incredible opportunity for OWO to collaborate with a publisher such as Ubisoft.

“We are proud to have Assassin’s Creed Mirage in our game portfolio and we can’t wait for players to start feeling the game. Together, we are on a mission to reshape the gaming landscape and push the boundaries of interactive entertainment.”

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Set to release in October, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the latest title in the long-running franchise. Players will take on the role of cunning street thief Basim as he seeks justice in ninth-century Baghdad. The original Assassin’s Creed also took place in the middle east, in what is now Israel, Palestine and Syria. With later games taking place in European and African countries, Assassin’s Creed Mirage feels like a return to the series’ roots.

And for the first time in series history, players will be able to immerse themselves further with the sense of touch thanks to the haptic gaming system.
