Gen.G Esports is collaborating with Manchester City to create new content for fans. The partnership will also include events to be hosted throughout the globe. Through the partnership, the two will meld esports and football audiences via new experiences and ways for fans to engage. The collaboration will host in-person events for fans in regions like the UK and South Korea.
Gen.G Esports CEO Arnold Hur said, “We’ve been on a search to learn from the sports world’s best about what it takes to maintain a championship mindset even under the brightest lights of competition, and we are excited to work with the newly crowned champions, Manchester City, under the banner of Gen City. We are incredibly excited about this partnership both for our competitive pro and educational academy teams and hope to build upon this collaboration into the future.”
Gen.G and Manchester City Have Won Multiple Championships
Both organisations have proven themselves in the esports industry. Gen.G has already won eight esports championships. Likewise, Manchester City are the current Premier League Champions and have won the title for three consecutive seasons. The two will be visiting Seoul for 2023/24 preseason preparations in July. The trip will allow the organisations to optimise their presence in Asia.
Gavin Johnson, Media Director at City Football Group said, “We are delighted to launch the collaboration between Manchester City and Gen.G, another fantastic addition to the Club’s growing involvement in the esports space, which will further increase our presence within South Korea and the region. Working with Gen.G, a hugely successful name in the gaming industry, we hope to spark a unique synergy of global audiences, providing both organisations the chance to create exciting experiences for football and esports fans alike.”
Manchester City and Gen.G also plan to launch limited-edition co-branded merch. Fans can keep up to date with the two brands via their Twitter accounts, twitter.com/mancityesports and twitter.com/geng.
