Gamescape Audio is Universal Production Music’s new audio direction service for game developers. The service was developed in partnership with Emperia Sound. According to Universal Production Music, Gamescape Audio is the first interactive music licensing solution specifically for games.
“We’re delighted to become the first-ever music library that speaks the creative and technical language of game developers,” said Universal Production Music president Jane Carter. “The explosive advancements of the gaming world have catapulted Universal Production Music forward as we meet more demand than ever for interactive music. We’re thrilled to have created an end-to-end solution that makes game score productions faster, less costly and features world-leading interactive music.”
More than music
Gamescape Audio offers more than just game music. The service also offers voiceover and dialogue production. Soundtrack production, custom music and audio direction are some of the main services available, while the service features a catalogue of ‘masterfully crafted and expertly curated music’ in various game-centric styles. Furthermore, game songwriters with a wealth of experience wrote the tracks within the catalog.
“The library meets the needs of developers of all kinds,” said Emperia Sound and Music co-founder and composer Jeff Rona. “This is game-ready music, creatively, technically and perfectly formatted,” he noted. “It offers an economical solution while maintaining a custom sound and feel. Gamescape Audio can do everything from licensing a single track to handling every aspect of game sound, including technical support and implementation.”
Additionally, Emperia Music co-founder Cody Matthew Johnson believes that Gamescape Audio can extend the company’s relationships with gaming companies like Sony, Ubisoft and Capcom.
“This is the single most holistic and precocial gaming music catalogue in the world. Production music licensing for interactive media has never been approached with such ambition and global scale, and we are thrilled to be introducing Gamescape’s innovative model along with Universal Production Music,” Johnson added.
Generative AI For Game Development
Gamescape Audio isn’t the only new service available to aid game developers. Scenario is a generative AI that game devs can train on any style or genre of game. The AI can then generate game graphics and concept art. Game development is often a long, in-depth process and such services can significantly reduce production time.
