MG Motor India, an automotive company that’s owned by SAIC Motor, a Chinese state-owned automobile manufacturer, has unveiled its metaverse platform called MGVerse.
The new metaverse platform was created in partnership with Metadome.ai, a 3D and XR technology company that specializes in immersive experiences for automotive companies.
Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commercial Officer, MG Motor India commented, “This initiative will help us further strengthen our relationship with GenZ and Gen Alpha.”
MG Motor India plans to use its new metaverse platform to provide new spaces for its customers, employees and partners to interact, make purchases and collaborate.
The platform’s early release only had an Explore & Creator centre and a virtual experience of the Auto Expo 2023. However, MGVerse now allows users to create new avatars or use their existing Ready Player Me avatars to access and explore the metaverse platform.
While the platform doesn’t currently support an NFT Gallery, MG Car Club, Gaming Arena, and MG Knowledge Centre, these features will eventually become a part of the experience as at some point it will allow users to create NFTs, connect through exclusive events and even play games.
Also, this wouldn’t be MG Motor’s first time dipping its toes into Web3 after previously using blockchain to create a digital passport for its SUV car model.
As the metaverse continues to grow, it’s also teeming with automotive brands, many of which are already preparing for the Web3 era in key areas like manufacturing, in-vehicle immersive experience and marketing.
