Elvis has entered the metaverse

Well it’s a-one for the money… Elvis On-Chain is a celebration of The King across multiple metaverses

The King of Rock n Roll is joining The Sandbox metaverse. Run it Wild, the Web3 company has built the project in collaboration with Elvis Presley Enterprises, the Sandbox, Decentraland and Voxel Architecture, among others. In honor of Elvis’s birthday, 1,935 Elvis Genesis Key NFTs are being minted, which will be used as entry tickets to the Elvis-On-Chain metaverse event launching June 1st.

“These incredible partners, all leaders in the craft, help us build a one-of-a-kind meeting place for Elvis fans. The Elvis metaverse will host an array of ground-breaking experiences, generative collections, a showcase of rare concerts, fan experiences, and real events,” Adam De Cata, director of Run It Wild, told NFT Culture.

In addition to NFTs, Voxel Architects and The Sandbox are creating Elvis avatars for the upcoming Elvis virtual world. Decentraland is hosting an Elvis Block Party where fans around the globe will celebrate the legacy of Elvis Presley after the NFTs are minted. The event will – of course – feature Elvis-themed wearables such as the King’s iconic jumpsuits and Elvis wigs.

The event will also attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record for the most Elvis impersonators in one virtual space.

MetaKey founder Matty added, “Elvis ‘shook up’ the music industry in the 1950s and it is that sort of cultural impact that we at The Metakey like to champion. I look forward to sharing his historic legacy to our community and introducing him to the Web3 space”

After announcing the Elvis project, both The Sandbox and Decentraland’s native tokens saw a significant boost.

“We want to empower his fans to express themselves and become their very own Elvis, creating an exciting way to experience his likeness across generations and keep him forever in the limelight thanks to technology,” said Sébastien Borget, COO and co-founder of The Sandbox.

Music in the Metaverse

The metaverse is proving to be a lucrative market for the music industry. Co-founded by John Legend, Our Happy Company recently secured $7.5 in funding to help musicians monetize in the metaverse. Likewise, Snoop Dogg released the first music video in the Sandbox in April 2022. Spotify recently joined the Roblox metaverse.
