The Women in Games Annual Global Conference is being held on Tuesday, October 10th. The conference will focus on the idea and reality of disruption. Through the conference, Women in Games will ask questions that will help lead to a more progressive future for women in esports and games. Dovetail Games, Keywords Studios and Amiqus are sponsoring this year’s conference.
Marie-Claire Isaaman, CEO of Women in Games said, “There are still huge challenges facing women working in games and esports, and women and girls playing games online. Our work at Women in Games is to address these significant challenges and look to find solutions. Our Annual Global Conference provides us with the chance to ask difficult questions, to disrupt – in the hope of collectively seeking answers.”
Hopin to host
Online platform Hopin will host the conference, with tickets available at £30. A limited number of discounted tickets are also available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Women in Games is a non-profit organisation. Ticket fees will go towards compensating the Hopin platform and supporting women in esports and games.
“Women in Games’ continuing mantra is that no one should be disadvantaged because they are a woman, and our speakers will share their perspectives on how and why their efforts at disrupting the status quo are a reason for optimism about positive change in the worlds of games, esports and beyond,” Isaaman adds.
The conference will address the problem with women’s dialogue in video games, among other related topics. It will also touch on mental health, toxicity and harassment in games and the workspace. Fairness concerning equity, pay and opportunity will also be addressed. Other topics to be discussed at this year’s Women in Games Annual Global Conference include diverse creative representation, education, entrepreneurship and advocacy and awareness.
