Legendary Developers Share Behind-The-Scenes Stories In New FPS Documentary

Customers that purchase the limited edition documentary by August 1st will see their name in the credits

Gaming documentary FPS (First Person Shooter) which features a large cast of legendary developers is now available for limited-time orders. Fans of classic FPS games such as Half-Life, Doom, Halo, Unreal and many more have until August 1st to order the FPS documentary from the official website and see their name included in the credits.

The movie provides a collection of behind-the-scenes stories and moments, spanning over four hours. These moments focus on cherished games and cult classics that have played a pivotal role in shaping the genre.

Fans will also enjoy an all-star cast which comprises prominent figures such as id Software co-founders John Romero and John Carmack; producer of System Shock and Deus Ex, Warren Spector; co-creator of Unreal, Cliff Bleszinski; and Halo’s scriptwriter Joseph Staten, along with dozens of other notable names.

Executive producer and creator Robin Block said, “FPS is more than just a film. It’s a love letter to a genre that has defined a generation of gamers.”

Producer and co-writer Richard Moss told us, “Games are the defining art and entertainment medium of our time and as the medium has matured, so too has the audience. Hundreds of millions of people who grew up playing games are now adults and many of them are interested in learning more about how the sausage is made, so to speak – or at looking more seriously at the history and evolution of their favourite game genres and series.

“And so just as we’ve seen a big uptick over the past decade in the number of high-quality books about games, we’re capitalising on an untapped audience we see for top-drawer documentary films that let you hear fascinating and fun stories directly from the legends of the games industry — both past and present.”

Be in the credits

The public can order the movie in a range of digital and physical collector’s editions, while those who shop by August 1st will also have their names included in the credits.

“Our team has worked over two years to bring this project to life,” said co-director and co-writer David L. Craddock. “Thanks to the support of thousands of backers around the world, we’re almost ready to share it with you.”

Co-director and editor Christopher Stratton described the documentary as, “A journey into the heart of action gaming to discover the creators and games that pioneered the industry we know today. Fans are in for a wild ride.”

The film also includes other notable figures such as Ken Silverman, Dave Oshry, Robin Walker, John Cook, Dennis Fong, Randy Fitzgerald, Amy Brady, Rebecca Heineman, Tom Hall, Adrian Carmack, American McGee and Jon St John.

FPS is available for order in digital and physical formats, collectables such as posters, a ‘big-box’ style package reminiscent of FPS games from the 1990s, mouse pads and more from the official website.
