Lately, it has become apparent that the metaverse extends beyond fully virtual environments and instead encompasses the merging of real-life encounters with virtual content in mixed reality (MR).
This has led to an increase in the number of interactive XR experiences in offline retail. Fashion brand Mugler is leveraging this trend with its AR Mirrors by FFFACE.ME, an award-winning XR & WEB3 Product House.
The French brand designed a collection of interactive XR installations at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, Alexa Mall in Berlin, and PEP Mall in Munich to showcase the value of their latest fragrance, Angel Elixir to visitors.
By reflecting the user and superimposing an Augmented Reality overlay in real-time, the AR Mirror enables the brand’s audience to perceive and experience the value of the showcased product. Users can also record and download a photo or video of their experience by tapping the screen.
Leveraging AR in Fashion
Polina Klekovkina, CCO of FFFACE.ME said, “Soon, AR Mirrors will become a mainstream part of offline retail for all industries. The technology is ready, the experience is easy for audiences, and it brings measurable value to businesses. It’s just a matter of time before we will be able to try on any product – from makeup to clothing – by simply looking in the mirror.”
FFFACE.ME has also partnered with WhatsApp parent company Meta in leveraging MR to revolutionise the retail industry.
The metaverse has been a topic of discussion within the digital fashion industry lately with a new report stating that, “The metaverse will be the finest place for digital fashion to leave its mark.” And that digital fashion is one of the technologies that will be a foundational element of the metaverse.
