Leading music streaming platform Spotify is aiming to take a step into Web3 by integrating token-enabled playlists onto the platform.
A Spotify spokesperson said, “At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as important learnings. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time,” According to a post on Binance’s website.
Once integrated, Spotify’s token-enabled playlists will allow NFT holders to connect their wallets to the Spotify app and access their song collections which will be managed by one of Spotify’s blockchain-based partners.
Blockchain company Overlord also took to Twitter to announce that it is one of the music streaming platform’s partners for the Web3 integration. Adding that users can now “Access our Invasion playlist by connecting your Web3 wallet on Spotify…This is just the beginning of our audio adventure, the team wrote on Twitter.
More Blockchain Partners
Spotify’s Web3 integration pilot will run for three months in partnership with other blockchain companies including Fluf, Moonbirds and Kingship.
“We, KINGSHIP strive to ALWAYS be at the forefront of technology and music,” said the brand in a Tweet. “Now, we’re taking this commitment a step further by launching a brand new token-enabled playlist with Spotify…We’re all about unlocking real value for our community and pushing the boundaries of music and blockchain, and having our holders be at the forefront of this space.”
Also, the Kingship playlist features some of the world’s most popular artists including Snoop Dogg, Led Zeppelin, Missy Elliott and Queen. Users can access the playlist using the Kingship Key Card NFT.
Overlord’s Invasion playlist is curated by the company’s community and is accessible by Creepz NFT holders.
The token-enabled playlist feature is currently available in testing for Android users in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.
