Mexican grill restaurant chain Chipotle is offering a wellness-inspired AR lens on Snapchat that promotes physical activity.
Chipotle claims to be the first restaurant brand to develop a Snapchat lens promoting wellness. The lens encourages users to stay active and calm their minds with exercises inspired by Chipotle, as well as meditation prompts. The AR lens launches on January 13, also known as Quitter’s Day, as it is the date most people give up on their new year’s resolutions. 100,000 fans who use Chipotle’s Snapchat AR lens on the 13th will receive a promo code for free guacamole or a small side.
Additionally, the company aims to help customers stick to their new year’s resolutions with its new LifeStyle Bowl menu. The menu takes inspiration from famous Millennial and GenZ wellness trends and includes seven new meals. These lifestyle bowls are exclusive to digital menus in the U.S. and Canada.
“We created seven new Lifestyle Bowls that embrace Gen Z and Millennials’ modern interpretation of wellbeing,” says Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer, Chipotle. “We’re making new year’s resolutions fun by gamifying the experience and offering balanced meals made with real ingredients that you feel good eating.”
Fast Food Chains and Web3
Other fast-food brands are also exploring using new technologies to market themselves. A 2022 survey from Paytronix and PYMNTs states that the metaverse will have a positive impact on restaurants. According to the survey, 38 per cent of metaverse users are willing to make purchases from virtual restaurants.
The popular coffee chain Starbucks announced its upcoming NFT rewards program, Starbucks Odyssey, in April 2022. The system launched a beta in the U.S. in December and features Coffee-themed NFTs. In addition, the program lets users earn stamps that the user can, in turn, use to unlock special experiences. Similarly, fast food chain, Wendys, opened a virtual restaurant in the metaverse. The Wendyverse is hosted within Horizon Worlds and includes a basketball court.
