Unique, a Netherlands-based employment company and a subsidiary of Recruit, a behemoth Japanese staffing firm has announced that it has launched a new staffing firm in the metaverse which it calls Uniqueverse.
While describing Uniqueverse, the firm stated, “With Uniqueverse, the first employment agency with a branch in the metaverse, we are responding to the job applications of the future. Discover virtual worlds in the anonymity of an avatar, map out your talent and competencies in an interactive way and get in touch with our recruiters.”
After rebranding its company name to Meta to align itself with its metaverse ambitions, Zuckerberg’s Facebook is now easily the company at the forefront of perfecting the metaverse and creating what might just be the next iteration of the internet.
Meta has so far invested billions of dollars into the metaverse and despite mostly recording losses (such that it laid off 11,000 employees), Zuckerberg has assured stakeholders that the company should expect losses in the early stages and expect viability in the next 5-15 years.
Speaking with SIA, Naveen Kumar Pathak, Domain Consultant, and Lead, Staffing and Recruitment Centre of Excellence at TCS said that the staffing industry will be affected by the metaverse, “especially given the changes happening to the nature of work, and the workforce itself, two key pillars of this industry.
Pathek added that “the biggest early beneficiary is the gaming industry. This is where AR and VR glasses and headsets are, and teenagers today are just jumping on that bandwagon. But beyond this, many other industries are already leveraging the metaverse in a big way.”
Also, research conducted by Deazy, a developer marketplace disclosed that just a quarter of CTOs in the UK have launched a metaverse project this year.
