Adidas and Prada are collaborating to create the Adidas for Prada Re-Nylon re-source collection for the metaverse. According to the Adidas website, the collection is “an ambitious first-of-its-kind NFT collaboration that will feature user-generated and creator-owned art.” The two famous brands plan to bring together fashion, design and crypto contributors to develop expansive digital art drawing inspiration from the physical Re-Nylon collection.
This isn’t Adidas’s first foray into NFT creation. In December 2021, the shoe manufacturer made $23 million from their Into The Metaverse NFT line. Additionally, high-end fashion companies other than Prada are also dabbling in the metaverse. For example, Ralph Lauren recently partnered with Roblox for a holiday event.
Prada and Adidas invite their audiences to contribute anonymous photos to the project. Three thousand of these contributions will be made into NFTs. The NFTS will then be “compiled as tiles in a single mass-patchwork NFT designed by renowned creative coder and digital artist Zach Lieberman,” Adidas says on their website.
Adidas for Prada Re-Source: Registration Is Open
Currently, registration is open to those wishing to contribute. Users will submit a photograph using a filter created by Zach Lieberman. Three thousand participants will be chosen to contribute. However, half of those spots are reserved for individuals who own Into The Metaverse NFTs and those who attempted to mint NFTs for Adidas’s previous line but were unsuccessful.
There is no fee to participate, and each artist will retain ownership of their NFT tile. The companies promise that proceeds will go to charity as well as the artists and creators. Likewise, all contributors will receive a share of the profits each time the Adidas for Prada re-source sells. SuperRare will host the auction of Lieberman’s NFT from January 28-31. Adidas and Prada will also display the NFT in flagship stores globally.
Each NFT tile is built on Polygon, an Ethereum-based open-source network. By building atop open-source Web3 tech, the companies believe that they have created a user-friendly platform where anyone can easily contribute.
