Discount department store Walmart is offering a new back-to-school experience in Roblox. The new Supercampus is a back-to-school-themed experience where players can solve puzzles and display their creative side, working with or competing against other players.
Walmart’s newest Roblox experience targets players 13 years of age and older. Users will interact with popular brands and supplies within the experience, like Crayola Crayons, BIC Highlighters and 3M’s Post-it Notes.
Walmart’s Roblox Scandal
Previously, Walmart launched Walmartland and Walmart’s Universe of Play Roblox experiences. Universe of Play offered games featuring popular characters and products from Paw Patrol, Magic Mixies, Razor Scooters and more. However, the experience, which centred on 2022’s most popular toys, was removed from the platform after six months when advocacy groups warned that it manipulated children into viewing and interacting with ads. The retail giant promises that the new Supercampus experience adheres to Roblox’s current Community Standards for all ages.
“Walmart has always aimed to create engaging experiences for our customers and members; now, we’re continuing to explore how to do that in the virtual worlds where they are spending more of their time,” states the press release. “We’re proud to have created a one-of-a-kind virtual journey where players can showcase their talents and uncover hidden skills, perfectly timed for the back-to-school season.”
Roblox is home to a variety of immersive experiences. Recently, Paris Hilton launched Slivingland, a space to experience music, TV, movies, podcasts and brand collaborations. Additionally, K-pop girl band BLACKPINK, in partnership with Karta Studios, launched BLACKPINK the Palace, where fans can socialise and explore scenes inspired by the band’s music videos. Further, Super League and Small World Games transferred Broadway musical Hamilton from the stage to Roblox via the Hamilton Simulator.
