Rainbow Six fans rejoice! In a follow-up to 2021’s action movie Without Remorse, Michael B. Jordan is back to star in Rainbow.
The popular Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six is the second book to focus on the character of John Clark. Not only did the books make for popular reading, they also went on to become a huge video game franchise.
In addition to bringing back Michel B. Jordan’s reprisal of John Clark the production has also gained Chad Stahelski as director. The stuntman turned filmmaker, is perhaps best known for his directorial debut with the movie John Wick.
A good fit for Rainbow Six
Stahelski spent much of his early career as a Keanu Reeves stunt double. However, he then went on to direct John Wick with the star cast in the leading role. The franchise has since become a hit with its fourth instalment pencilled in for a March 2023 release. There have also been rumours of a triple-A game based on the John Wick IP.
But enough about the bogeyman that is John Wick. What’s more important is the work Stahelski has done with that franchise, which could resonate extremely well with a Rainbow Six movie. The story of Rainbow Six follows Clark as he commands a multi-country anti-terrorist squad, yep you got it, team Rainbow.
While no story details on the movie have been shared yet, it is expected to follow the same premise as the book’s source material. Without Remorse, served as an origin story for the character of Clark.
Movie night
If you haven’t heard of the movie Without Remorse it may be because it was in production during the height of Covid 19. It was originally intended to have a theatrical release however it was delayed due to the pandemic. Amazon Studios then acquired its distribution rights and released it on its Prime Video streaming service in 2021. The movie was received with mixed reviews. With Stahelski at the helm, let’s see what they can make out of Rainbow Six.
For those looking for their next Tom Clancy fix, the popular Splinter Cell franchise recently had an eight-part series released on Radio. For more trans-media goodness and further work from Stahelski keep on the lookout for more on the live-action movie based on the PlayStations hit game, Ghost of Tsushima.
