Recent revelations from Dating.com have revealed some dating insights and how singles are expanding their search deeper into the digital world.
The results show that singles are looking for partners who can help them stay true to their upcoming New Year’s resolutions. This desire to find a partner who can help in achieving goals is noted to be more important than a person’s physical appearance. With 55% of respondents rating common goals and values as being more paramount than physical attraction.
In addition to this, singles across the world are continuing their partnership with technology to help them find a match. Dating apps have already taken over much of the scene, given their ability to attract a broader range of users. However, taking things even further is the possibility of virtual relationships.
Metaverse dating
Forget long-distance dating, now people are ready to take a step toward dating in the metaverse. Virtual world dating isn’t a new thing either. Metaverse titles like Second Life have seen online users entering virtual relationships, with some even crossing over into the real world. Of those surveyed, 33% of singles said they plan to date in the metaverse. The ability to use avatars will serve as a way to put the focus on communication before any possible real-world developments.
Platforms such as the metaverse and online dating, in general, have created singles who are prepared to expand their search across cities, countries, and even continents. With the continued growth of these spaces forming new relationships, be they friendships or more, with people across the world is only going to become more commonplace.
Discord recently released new features which enable extra user verification, which is something current and upcoming metaverse titles may also explore. Just as taking precautions in real life when dating is important, it’s also integral to remain safe online. With more singles looking for love online, it’s only going to become even more significant to ensure users know who they are talking to. Otherwise, there are a ton more catfish episodes incoming.
