‘Women Don’t Play’ Is A New Platform Dedicated To Helping Women Get Into Tech

Odeeo’s VP of product says, ‘This is a great platform to show the diverse range of women shaping the future of gaming, tech, and advertising’

Audience intelligence platform NumberEight and in-game audio pioneer Odeeo have launched a new platform dedicated to lifting women in tech in honour of International Women’s Day.

The new platform called ‘Women Don’t Play‘ will see both companies host interviews and discuss tools for all genders within the tech, advertising and gaming industries to promote gender equity and diversity.

As of 2022, women make up 28% of the tech industry workforce – up to 34.4% at the largest companies in the US (Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft). Only 15% of engineering jobs are held by women, despite women holding 44% of STEM-related bachelor degrees as of 2022.

Emma Raz, commercial director at NumberEight said, “This project grew as a natural progression of an initiative we launched last year, featuring a number of women in the ad tech and gaming industries, as part of this project I discovered the need and desire of these female leaders to help other women coming into the industry.”

Future expansion

The platform’s official website has now launched and features interviews with games industry pioneer Kelly Vero, Brand Advance UK/Europe CEO Deborah Gbadamosi, and Odeeo VP of product Liat Barer as well as shared a ton of resources for women looking to advance their tech careers.

Liat Barer said, “We’re very excited to partner with Emma and NumberEight on launching Women Don’t Play. I believe that the best way to get more women into technical and leadership roles is for them to have visible role models, and this is a great platform to show the diverse range of women shaping the future of gaming, tech, and advertising.”

The platform will expand with more interviews and additional content in the coming months as the goal of Women Don’t Play is to equip women with the right tools and practical guidance to get into tech-related roles and fields.
