Alibaba Cloud will launch a blockchain lab in Shibuya, Japan next month in partnership with Skeleton Crew Studio. The lab will aid Japanese game developers in branching out into Web3. Upon its launch, Alibaba Cloud’s blockchain lab will only be open to specific customers currently working on projects with the company and hackathon participants.
“The strength of content development and cross-industry digital technology, especially in the gaming space, is creating more opportunities in Japan with a thriving Web3 community,” says Unique Song, Country Manager at Alibaba Cloud Japan. “We want to provide technology platforms and intelligence tools and encourage customers and developers to build their own applications in areas such as games, metaverses, social media, etc. Also, through our new blockchain lab in Japan, We will provide resources, events and networking opportunities to help our customers seize new business opportunities in this exciting Web3 era.”
Alibaba will regularly host events at the lab, including the HAPathon 2023 hackathon and blockchain gaming hackathon, #asobiHack_Tokyo. The blockchain lab will also hold regular seminars, workshops and networking events. Through the lab, developers will have access to Alibaba Cloud’s Web3 partner ecosystem, which includes digital assets custody solution, Safeheron. Blockchain infrastructure provider NodeReal, which allows for faster, more scalable Web3 game projects, is also part of the ecosystem.
Alibaba Cloud’s Upcoming Blockchain Node Service
Alibaba also plans to launch a blockchain node service in Japan later this year. Currently, the node service is undergoing beta testing. According to Alibaba Cloud, the upcoming blockchain node service will cut down on development time by offering a scalable, secure infrastructure. The service will also monitor nodes and switch over automatically if a failure occurs. Additionally, the company promises the service will have world-class security features preventing hackers from accessing nodes. The nodes are protected by cloud firewalls which prevent unauthorised users from gaining access.
