Bing Chat Impersonates Stars In Secret Celebrity Mode

The AI can impersonate various famous individuals such as Taylor Swift and Dwayne Johnson, as well as fictional characters

Typically, we look to comedians for celebrity impersonations. However, according to a recent article from Bleeping Computer, Bing Chat has a secret Celebrity mode that impersonates various stars.

Bing Chat’s celebrity mode is disabled by default. However, when a user asks the AI about the celebrity mode, it will enable it and provide brief instructions on how it works.

“Bing chat celebrity mode is a feature that allows you to chat with a virtual version of a famous person, such as an actor, singer, or athlete,” Bing Chat instructed Bleeping Computer. “You can ask them questions about their life, career, hobbies, opinions, etc. and they will respond in a way that matches their personality and style.”

After the AI enables celebrity mode, the user must type #celbrity followed by the desired celebrity’s name. Alternatively, you can just type #[celebrity name]. For instance, to instruct Bing Chat to impersonate Taylor Swift, you can type either #celebrity taylor swift or #taylor swift.

Unfortunately, celebrity mode can only mimic specific celebrities. Stars the AI can mimic include Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey, Taylor Swift Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and Elon Musk among others. According to Bleeping Computer, the AI does an impressive job impersonating how certain celebrities talk and even incorporates their commonly used catchphrases.

Bing Chat Celebrity Mode Impersonates Gollum

Celebrity mode can also mimic famous fictional characters like Harry Potter, Batman, Yoda, Darth Vader, Sherlock Holmes, Katniss Everdeen, Elsa and Gollum. Bleeping Computer shared a screenshot of one of its reporters’ conversation with Bing Chat while it was impersonating Gollum from The Lord Of The Rings.

When asked what it thought of Bing Chat, the AI mimicking Gollum stated, “Bing Chat is nice to us, yes. It helps us find things on the web, it does. But sometimes it is too clever, too smart. It knows things we don’t want it to know. It asks us questions we don’t like. No, no, we don’t like Bing Chat sometimes.”

Bing Chat Celebrity mode claims it cannot impersonate politicians, activists, or state heads. However, Bleeping Computer was able to get around this restriction and prompt Bing Chat to impersonate Donald Trump and Joe Biden. The AI was able to mimic both the former and current Presidents of the United States quite accurately.
