“The LEGO® City Gaming Tournament Truck is loaded with features for imaginative play,” writes Lego on its website. “Open the trailer to reveal a stage with 2 toy computer gaming stations and a stadium screen with fun ‘animation’ functionality, plus a winner’s trophy and cool merchandise for LEGO City’s eSport fans. Just add the presenter and gaming mini figures and let the tournament begin.”
Lego and the Metaverse
Last year, Lego teamed up with Epic Games to help shape the metaverse. The companies aim to make the metaverse a safe and fun environment for children across the globe. Considering the company’s public interest in the metaverse, it’s not surprising that it is bringing Esports to the world of Lego.
The Lego Esports Tournament Truck is part of the Lego City line, which allows players to create their own Lego town. The new Esports set retails for $39.99 and features two Lego computer gaming stations where Lego figures can compete. The tournament truck is black with bright accents. Within the truck’s trailer is a mobile Esports tournament space. Said space includes a stage, the previously mentioned gaming stations and a trophy that looks like a game controller. There’s even a game progress bar in the back compartment of the truck that fans can move to ramp up the intensity.
Additionally, the set comes with three mini-figures and features a stadium screen above the stage. With 344 pieces, the Lego Gaming Tournament Truck set also Esports merch for the fans of Lego City. Lego hasn’t announced plans to release a full Esports tournament set in the future. However, the Lego Gaming Tournament Truck set may pave the way for more Lego Esports sets.
