Didimo, a provider of automated solutions for the generation of digital humans has announced a $7.15 million Series A funding.
While there are many platforms available which allow you to create digital avatars many of which are interoperable between platforms – Didimo’s system involves unique tech that allows you do it all in just 60 seconds.
In a statement to GamesBeat, Didimo CEO Verónica Orvalho said, “Didimo’s mission has always been to make the digital world more human by bringing the richness of emotional expression and personalization to experiences. We can empower people to do naturally in digital spaces what they do in the real world, like try on clothes, pick up and explore products, compete in a game or entertain their friends. Our technology means people engage with computing in more human and authentic ways.”
Armilar Venture Partners led the funding round alongside Bright Pixel Capital, Portugal Ventures and Techstars.
Say ‘hi’ to digital humans
The digital humans market is on the rise, with more and more demand for new digital characters and influencers and with a potentially giant market for realistic metaverse avatars just around the corner as platforms take off.
Creating a 3D avatar is lots of work and takes time because accuracy and complexity are vital, which can further extend the process. As aforementioned, Didimo’s cloud-based platform lets users create 3D avatars in as little as one minute.
And it’s a pretty simple process as well, a user simply needs a high-quality headshot, after which Didimo’s AI and computer graphics scan and transform the image into a 3D realistic version.
However, Didimo’s platform is limited to heads and faces but full body updates are well in the works, with their recently secured $7.15 million funding helping that to become a reality.
