The Game Awards Returns With New Date and Category

Now with a new Best Adaptation category has been included

The Game Awards has announced it will return this year and is bringing a new category to the ceremony this year.

This year’s Game Awards will be held in Microsoft Theater Los Angeles on December 8, 2022. And as usual, we’ll witness how the best video games of the year are being honoured as well as catch a glimpse of games coming in 2023 and beyond.

The new addition to the categories is called Best Adaptation. This category will explore outstanding achievements in the adaptation of a video game’s intellectual property to a different medium. This can be streaming shows, novels, comic books, feature films and podcasts.

Last year’s award show included Hollywood actors when Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey graced the ceremony with their presence to showcase the first trailer for Sonic 2 as well as the first trailer for Paramount Plus’ Halo series.

And with the addition of Best Adaptation, it’s only safe to say we are very likely to see more Hollywood celebrity guests considering the number of video game adaptation features films we’ve seen this year like Sony’s Uncharted starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg and Sonic 2.

The Game Awards 2022 will be streamed on multiple platforms on December 8 including YouTube, Twitch, TikTok Live, Twitter, Facebook, and others.
