Animoca Brands Is Launching An NFT Collection Celebrating Japanese Culture

Animoca and its partners chose artists that embody Japanese culture

Animoca Brands Japan is partnering with UCOLLEX and MADworld to launch a series of NFTs that pay homage to Japanese culture. Artwork for the series is being created by artists who the companies feel embody Japanese culture.

“The new NFT series [are] in the spirit of Ukiyo-e, the Japanese art of ‘Ukiyoe wo Egashite,'” wrote MADworld in a press release. “We will be launching a series of works by artists who are active in the forefront of Japanese culture from various perspectives, such as ukiyo-e style artists and sculpture x Japanese culture, as well as developing a community.”

The World of NFTs

NFT art is a lucrative industry, with some believing it could become more valuable than all other art forms. Instagram is cashing in on the NFT craze by adding NFT integration. Popular brands like Prada and Nike have launched NFT collections. Even the Vatican is launching an NFT art gallery.

Before launching the NFT collection, participating artists will showcase their work in extended reality in New York City’s Time Square during NFT.NYC, the largest global NFT conference, which runs through June 23. Artists whose artwork is utilized in the NFT collection include Masayuki Kojo, who specializes in warrior paintings and Crazy Chocolate who integrates Japanese tradition into her street art.

Using the STYLY app, users can experience the artists’ work in XR in Time Square during the event. A virtual reality experience will also be available for those who can’t make the event in person. All of the art showcased at the NFT.NYC exhibit will be converted into a diorama and minted as an NFT. The collection will be available for purchase through the STYLY app. Updates on the Japanese Culture NFT series can be found on MADworld’s Discord.
