The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Economy have built a new HQ – where else – but in the metaverse.
The announcement came from Gulf News after Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE’s Minister of Economy revealed during Dubai’s Metaverse Assembly. “This is not a proof of concept, this is our third address,” he told the gathering before going on to give a live tour of the new virtual headquarters.
The new headquarters are inside a multiple-story building where each floor serves a distinct purpose. A visitor can take a ticket that’ll prompt a “customer happiness center employee” to join the Metaverse experience and communicate with the visitor.
The Metaverse headquarters will also be a complement to the ministry’s two physical offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, allowing the ministry to make digital services an ever larger and more vital part of its operations after receiving directives from UAE leadership.
Visitors who are visiting the virtual HQ can also sign legally binding documents which makes obsolete the need for people to visit one of the physical headquarters of the ministry to provide signatures.
The virtual headquarters also has an auditorium which is used to facilitate virtual conferences as well as other events and meeting rooms where users can share a screen.
Dubai tech continues to set the pace
Dubai is amongst the countries that are racing ahead in the metaverse quest to perfect the next iteration of the internet as it aims to create 40,000 virtual jobs in 2030 and also supports the vision of the Dubai government to increase the number of blockchain companies so a much more significant number.
