UK esports body British Esports has revealed its support towards grassroots esports across the UK with an online event dedicated to equity, diversity and inclusivity throughout the industry. The Be The Change Summit is an online webinar hosted by Women in Esports. It will bring together leaders from esports, education, technology, sports and video games, as well as educators, influencers and others who are committed to making the esports community more inclusive.
Esports will be a major focus during the summit, but the event is about more than just competitive gaming. Speakers from a variety of industries will participate in the summit, with the mission of making a broader impact that reaches beyond the world of esports.
Sue Lavasani, chair of Women in Esports Committee says, “This summit will bring many voices together from many sectors to inspire positive change. Our mission is to empower individuals and organisations to embrace and drive change, paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive society.”
Equity, diversity and inclusion
The Summit will have an inaugural theme of Empowering, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and its impact on individuals. There will also be a focus on education by facilitating discussions on various EDI topics and encouraging participants to share their personal experiences.
During the Summit, attendees can develop the skills and tools they need to improve their own EDI practices and inspire others to take action. It will do this by showcasing best practices and highlighting success stories. The event encourages open dialogue and creates a safe space for participants to express their perspectives.
The Be The Change Summit is scheduled to take place on November 14th and welcomes attendees from all sectors as it aims to create a more equitable space for everyone regardless of their industry, background or identity. Tickets are available from the Be The Change events page.
