Reddit User Interactions Tripled In Five Years

The social media site reached over 2.9 billion interactions last year, with more than 57 million daily active users

Having been around for nearly 20 years, Reddit has enjoyed a significant increase in users over the past few years, as new advances in Web3, AI and XR took center stage. OnlyAccounts.io recently shared data that shows user interaction over the past five years has tripled. In 2022, the site, where users can post, comment and discuss endless subjects, reached over 2.9 billion interactions.

According to the data, over 57 million people across the globe use Reddit each day to interact with users with common interests. Reddit is home to a variety of content, from gaming and entertainment to finance and true crime. With subreddits for practically every subject, millions of new users subscribe each year.

Due to the influx of users, the amount of user interactions such as posting, comments, upvotes and downvotes have seen a significant increase. Interactions on the site have grown by 380 million per year on average.

In 2017, Reddit had roughly 900 million user interactions, according to official site data and Statista. However, in 2018, Reddit user comments, upvotes and downvotes were up 33 per cent, with 1.2 billion user interactions. The site saw the most significant year-over-year growth in 2021, driven by lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2022 saw the most growth, with a 24 per cent increase in user interactions.

According to the data, Reddit is projected to reach 70 million daily users by 2025. The number of users and user interactions continues to increase in 2023 and may yet surpass 2022 in terms of year-over-year growth. Data from Statista and BusinessofApps indicate that Reddit will reach 62.2 million active daily users in 2024.

NFTs and Reddit

In January of 2022, Reddit began testing NFT profile pics. Likewise, in the summer of 2022, the platform launched its NFT Avatar marketplace. The platform launched with 90 unique NFT designs ranging in price from $9.99 to $99.99. Reddit offered collaborating artists a 50/50 split on royalties.
