New Formula E: High Voltage Game Races With NFT Cars And Drivers

Up to 8,500 Solo Crates and 9,000 Team Crates are currently on sale containing NFTs for use in the game

Developed by Animoca Brands and Amber, the Formula E video game High Voltage is scheduled to launch tomorrow, October 19th. The game leverages energy-efficient Flow blockchain to grant players digital ownership over all their in-game items as NFTs. All new players will receive up to four NFTs (two cars and two drivers) which they can use to play the game free.

Formula E: High Voltage features elements of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, showcasing well-known city centre tracks in Rome, Berlin, New York and London. In the game, players oversee each race, making strategic decisions on car choices, drivers and special abilities to achieve peak performance in various weather conditions as well as day and night settings.

The cars and drivers in NFTs are each categorised by rarity (common, rare, epic, legendary) with some having unique rare foil variants within their rarity tier. These NFTs possess distinctive skills drawn from a selection of more than 100 different abilities. The game will see players collect, train, enhance, and oversee drivers and cars, both before and after races, all of which are essential steps in building a racing empire.

Use real-life and fantasy cars

Kieran Holmes-Darby, gaming director at Formula E said, “We are excited to partner with Animoca Brands, a proven leader in the gaming industry, to launch Formula E: High Voltage. Gamers will get the chance to engage with Formula E and our racing in a dynamic new way. We are confident they will enjoy the gaming experience and will be more likely to follow the teams and drivers competing in the championship.”

The in-game roster will include the cutting-edge GEN3 race car, dubbed one of the fastest, lightest, most potent and most efficient electric race cars globally. Players will have access to a diverse array of both fantasy and official cars and drivers. This includes the reigning 2023 ABB FIA Formula E World Champion, Jake Dennis, along with his Andretti Porsche 99X Electric GEN3 car.

Will Griffiths, vice president of commercial strategy, Animoca Brands said, “The upcoming launch of Formula E: High Voltage in partnership with Formula E marks an exhilarating moment for us. Fans and players alike will not only immerse themselves in the excitement of the race, but also enjoy the advantages of true digital ownership brought by NFT and blockchain technologies.”

Formula E: High Voltage is part of the REVV Motorsport ecosystem, which includes licensed racing blockchain games MotoGP Ignition and MotoGP Guru, and other original titles such as REVV Racing and Torque Drift 2. The game is available on the official website.
