Content creators and Twitch streamers Lomadiah, Koji, GeekyCassie, AyeforScotland, DonaTarte and ChocolateKieran joined together on Sunday, October 8th for a marathon stream supporting WarChild UK. Together, the gaming influencers raised money for the aforementioned charity through a seven-hour livestream.

Shay Thompson hosted the charity event with award-winning creative production agency ADVNCR Productions producing the event. During the livestream, content creators played a selection of multiplayer games. The streamers also encouraged their viewers to participate in challenges. Additionally, WarChild held an online auction during the livestream. Those participating in the auction had the chance to bid on and potentially win gaming products and merchandise.

WarChild UK Helps Children Affected By War

WarChild UK is the only charity that specialises in helping children affected by war and conflict. Established in 1993, the charity strives to prevent children’s lives from being torn apart by war. WarChild UK attempts to reach children affected by war when conflict first begins and offers them support throughout their ordeal and recovery. Specifically, the charity aids in keeping these children safe and helps them learn to cope with their experiences. Currently, the charity offers its life-saving services in 15 countries, including Ukraine, Yemen, Iraq and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The livestream and accompanying online auction were the finale of a three-week fundraising event called the Power Up Cup. During the fundraising event, WarChild UK worked with its sister agencies in Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands to attempt to raise £50,000.

Another Game industry charity, SpecialEffect, also recently held a fundraising event. The charity aids gamers with physical disabilities by helping to provide specialized gaming equipment to allow them to play games independently. On October 6th, SpecialEffect held its annual One Special Day fundraising and awareness event. The event was successful in raising nearly £120,000. Likewise, Gaming Mental Health Charity Safe in Our World is hosting its Press Pause charity fundraiser from October 27th through October 31st.
