CD Projekt Aims To Explore Night City In A Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action Adaptation

Fans will soon be able to experience Night City in a live-action adaptation of the edgy sci-fi universe

Video game development studio CD Projekt Red, the renowned developer behind The Witcher game series and the acclaimed Cyberpunk 2077 has partnered with global media company Anonymous Content to develop a live-action project within the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.

As part of the partnership, CD Projekt is in direct collaboration with key figures from Anonymous Content Studios, including Garret Kemble, head of television, Ryan Schwartz, director of development, and David Levine, chief creative officer. Anonymous Content is recognised for its production of Emmy-winning series like True Detective and Mr. Robot, as well as Academy Award-winning films such as The Revenant and Spotlight.

The upcoming project is still in early stages of development and is actively in search of a screenwriter to craft a fresh narrative that’ll capture the depth of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Producing this endeavour on behalf of Anonymous Content will be Garrett Kemble, David Levine, Ryan Schwartz, Bard Dorros, and Charlie Scully.

A creative team!

AC Studios, under Anonymous Content, will be responsible for this project. The live-action will also be developed in a tight-knit partnership with the creative team behind Cyberpunk 2077. Further details about the project will be disclosed as the collaboration between Anonymous Content and CD Projekt advances.

Anonymous Content Studios’ current lineup of series features notable titles such as Saint X directed by Dee Rees, Shantaram with Charlie Hunnam, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Dominique Fishback, and the second season of Random Acts of Flyness.

CD Projekt on the other hand, has a track record of successfully adapting the universe of its popular video games into different forms of media. For instance, the popular Netflix anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, produced in partnership with Studio Trigger, garnered significant recognition, including prestigious awards like Anime of the Year from IGN and Crunchyroll.

Players have also heaped praises on the studio’s newest spy-thriller expansion Phantom Liberty featuring actors Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba as they explore some of the most dangerous parts of Night City.
