Assassin’s Creed developer Ubisoft has launched its new Develop at Ubisoft mentorship program to help women and non-binary individuals develop programming or game design skills.

Through the mentorship program, individuals with a passion for video games further their careers. Develop at Ubisoft will provide participants with specialised training and mentorships from Ubisoft team members. The program is available at 20 of Ubisoft’s studios throughout the globe. Mentorships will last for four to eight weeks and participants will receive constructive feedback.

“I’m enthusiastic about the potential of Develop at Ubisoft to empower women and non-binary individuals to begin their journey in the gaming industry,” says senior vice president of production technology at Ubisoft and the program’s sponsor, Guillemette Picard. “This initiative will help foster an inclusive and supportive environment not just at Ubisoft but in our industry, one that values everyone’s unique perspectives and talents, regardless of gender.”

Apply Now for Develop at Ubisoft

Those interested in participating in the Develop at Ubisoft program can apply now through October 1st via the Ubisoft.com career site. To be eligible for the program, individuals must be 18 or older, identify as female or non-binary and have less than two years of professional experience. Upon the program’s launch in mid-October, participants will create projects centring around a pre-set theme.

“With more people playing video games than ever before, it is important for us to help build an inclusive entertainment industry that reflects the diversity of our players,” states Ubisoft of the program on its website. “With this mentorship, we have an exciting opportunity to support talents from different backgrounds, bringing fresh perspectives and new ideas.”

Ubisoft is perhaps best known for its Assassin’s Creed game series. Last year, the company celebrated the franchise’s 15th anniversary. The latest game in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, will release on October 5th, 2023.
