Indie game developer Dramatic Labs is partnering with ViacomCBS Consumer Products to bring its title Star Trek: Resurgence, to retail. Physical copies of the game will be available at retailers on October 6th for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation5, and PlayStation4.
“As our first post-Telltale adventure, it’s been truly humbling to have Star Trek fans across the world respond to our game so positively,” says Dramatic Labs founder Kevin Bruner. “It’s been thrilling to see them spot all the references and call out the accuracy we’ve tried to recreate, down to the tiniest detail. We can’t wait to see more fans make tough decisions aboard the Resolute.”
Star Trek: Resurgence is a Hit
Star Trek: Resurgence is already a hit amongst fans. The game takes place shortly after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It thrusts players into the role of two crewmembers of the U.S.S. Resolute, First Officer Jara Rydek and Engineering Crewperson Carter Diaz. The two are on a mission to thwart an ancient and powerful force from destroying all in its path. Players will pilot shuttles, fight enemies using phasers and utilize stealth tactics throughout the game.
The developer is offering free upgrades to the PlayStation 5 version of the game for anyone who bought the digital PS4 version before the PS5 version was available. Additionally, Dramatic Labs is adding further language support. Latin-American Spanish, German and Traditional Chinese subtitles will now be available in-game.
Dramatic Labs comprises various ex-Telltale Games employees, including former Telltale CEO and co-founder Kevin Bruner. Telltale Games is known for its interactive narrative titles such as Telltale’s The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands. More recently, Telltale released episode one of The Expanse: A Telltale Series.
Star Trek: Resurgence is now available for preorder from retail stores. The game is available for download on Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 consoles and through the Epic Games Store for PC.
