Metaverse company Meta has joined forces with Italian luxury brand Valentino to launch a new line of branded digital clothing on the company’s Avatar Store. After launching the Meta Avatar Store in late 2022, Valentino offered digital outfits from various luxury clothing brands from Balenciaga, Prada and Thom Browne.
The renowned Italian brand is now offering a collection of Valentino outfits inspired by its latest real-life collection. This exclusive range includes two mini dresses, a form-fitting jumpsuit, a stylish suit jacket, a trendy bomber jacket, a chic t-shirt, a pair of jeans,and a set of shorts.
Valentino’s first drop of digital pieces launched on July 14th, which users can use to dress up their Meta avatars on various Meta platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and some of the company’s VR offerings like Horizon Worlds.
Embracing digital fashion
Each of the company’s digital outfits in this collection is priced at $5, making them the most affordable items bearing the Valentino name. The second most affordable items are two physical products, namely the Rosso Valentino Mini Lipstick and Stick With Me Glitter Primer, both available at $25 each.
In a release via Vogue Business, Valentino said that it is taking, “A step forward toward commerce in the metaverse” by exploring the possibilities of digital clothing, “Encouraging individuality and building community is a constant conversation and exploration. Over the years, digital communities have strengthened this pursuit, building an even more powerful, open-to-all ethos.”
Just recently, Meta partnered with Roblox to bring the popular gaming platform to its VR headset. The Facebook parent company also sees an opportunity in digital fashion and avatars as it hopes to bring its metaverse vision to life.
