As reported by Variety, CBS Eye Animation Productions and Among Us publisher Innersloth are developing an animated TV adaptation of the popular game with Owen Dennis set to act as creator and executive producer.
Currently, specific plot details about the Among Us series are being kept under wraps. However, audiences can anticipate a storyline that mirrors the game’s concept. Taking place in a futuristic setting, the game revolves around a crew aboard a spaceship, where one or more individuals have been replaced by a shape-shifting alien.
Chaos soon ensues as the imposter relentlessly sabotages and seeks to eliminate everyone on board. The crew must take action to unmask the imposter before they fall victim to this deadly game. Although the game’s premise may seem unconventional for an adaptation, it sets the stage perfectly for a gripping murder mystery.
From finding imposters to animation
Among Us initially launched in 2018, but it wasn’t until the onset of the pandemic in 2020 that it skyrocketed in popularity. As people sought engaging activities during quarantine, the game offered a unique and entertaining experience of deceit and camaraderie among friends.
Titmouse, the animation studio behind popular series like Netflix’s Big Mouth and Star Trek: Lower Decks, will take the reins of the upcoming Among Us series. The collaboration will bring together the creative minds of Innersloth’s Forest Willard, Marcus Bromander, and Carl Neisser, alongside Titmouse’s Shannon Prynoski, Chris Prynoski, Ben Kalina, and Antonio Cannobio, who will serve as executive producers under Dennis.
No specific streaming or network platform or release date has been confirmed. Among Us is available on a variety of platforms, including mobile, PC and gaming consoles such as PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
