League of Legends team G2 Esports has penned a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery and DC Comics in an attempt to lead the lifestyle segment of competitive gaming.
This collaboration will see G2 Esports launch a range of DC Comics-themed apparel as well as consumer products for fans, kicking things off with the release of a limited-edition Joker-themed jersey.
The Joker-themed jersey will be worn by the G2 team when they participate in the League of Legends MSI Tournament in London, which is currently underway and will conclude on May 21st.
Alban Dechelotte, CEO of G2 Esports, said, “At G2, we love nothing more than great storytelling and always had a lot of admiration for the DC Comics universe. For this MSI World Championship, the Joker character felt natural to take the competition by storm with our unexpected drafts. We can’t wait for the G2 Army to see what we have got planned for them.”
More big brand partnerships
Being one of the most valuable esports companies in the world, the partnership has allowed G2 to add other big names to its list of partners including big brands like Logitech, Red Bull, Herman Miller, Ralph Lauren, Spotify, and Mastercard.
Stefan Hausberg, vice president of consumer products at Warner Bros Discovery, said, “The cooperation with G2 Esports is very exciting for us. Our world-renowned DC superheroes are a perfect match for the heroes of G2 Esports. We are looking forward to an amazing launch of prestige jerseys with The Joker and more for the upcoming esports tournaments.”
G2 Esports’ creative team will lead the design for the new DC-inspired range. The Joker jersey is underway, followed by a special release for BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 which starts on May 8th.
A capsule collection with lifestyle products like T-shirts, hoodies, and shorts will drop in the near future.
