Transmedia esports and gaming firm Galaxy Racer will host a three-part, $100,000 Apex Legends Open event for women as part of the HER Galaxy Tournament Series.
The HER Galaxy Tournament Series is a brand new competitive gaming initiative that’s providing meaningful playing opportunities for women gamers.
Galaxy Racer will hold up to seven events throughout 2023 with a combined prize pool of $250,000 including 8 days of broadcast. The HER Galaxy Tournament Series has become one of the large-scale tournament series that is exclusive for women gamers to compete at the highest levels.
Women gamers in North America are encouraged to register and participate in the tournament which has already garnered more than 330 registered players for the event.
Elevating women in the Apex Legends community
John Nelson, senior director and commissioner, Apex Legends Esports at Electronic Arts said, “Apex Legends was built with diversity and representation in mind, and we’re committed to fostering that same philosophy through competitive gaming. We’re proud to support Galaxy Racer as we work together to create opportunities that elevate women in our global Apex Legends community.”
The three-part Apex Legends Open will take place in April-June. The key dates are below:
- Tournament Registration Deadline: April 18, 11:59 pm ET
- Play-in Day 1: April 28, 8:00 pm ET
- Play-in Day 2: April 29, 6:00 pm ET
- Lower Bracket Round 1: May 19, 8:00 pm ET
- Upper Bracket: May 20, 6:00 pm ET
- Lower Bracket Round 2: June 24, 6:00 pm ET
- Finals: June 25, 6:00 pm ET
Galaxy Racer and EA are working to inspire change across the gaming industry and share a commitment to ending the immense gender disparity in the gaming world. As a testament to this commitment, Apex Legends also donated $40,000 to HER Galaxy’s recent Charity Creator Cup.
