Luxury fashion designer Gresham Blake has partnered with Kojima Productions for a Death Stranding-inspired clothing line.
Blake founded his clothing brand in 1999 and has catered to many famous clients, including Johnny Depp and Steve Coogan. The luxury designer aims to make tailoring more accessible to the average person. According to Blake, working with Kojima Productions was a fantastic opportunity.
“Working alongside Kojima Productions on this collaboration has been an incredible opportunity to delve into a space we haven’t explored yet,” says Gresham. “The endless creativity that goes into game design provided the freedom to have fun with a collection that is an otherworldly take on our usual tailoring. Bold patterns and vibrant fabrics alongside the monochrome equivalent are a deliberate juxtaposition mirroring the light and dark of the plot lines that are delivered with such poignance throughout Death Stranding’s storyline.”
Death Stranding: A Ground-Breaking Game
Death Stranding is Kojima Productions’ 2019 hit video game. The title centres around courier Sam Bridges as he journeys across a desolate landscape to unite the remaining population. Norman Reedus, best known for his portrayal of Darryl Dixon on AMC’s The Walking Dead, provided Bridge’s voice and motion capture.
A film adaptation is currently in the works. Kojima is working with Hammerstone Studios to develop the film, which will feature new characters. Death Stranding 2 is also in development at this time.
The new clothing line features just 11 pieces, including tracksuits, jackets, shirts and a hat. Each piece is made to order, which is no surprise considering the price tags. For instance, the Gresham Blake x Death Stranding Micro Poly Jacket retails for $550. The collection’s Silk Jacket, which Hideo Kojima wore while presenting the Death Stranding 2 trailer at The Game Awards, goes for $1,050.
Of course, the collection has cheaper options, such as the $245 tracksuit. Unfortunately, the most affordable piece in the Gresham Blake x Death Stranding collection being a $65 bucket hat. This means fans on a tight budget will most likely find the collection out of reach.
