Mobile game developer Metacore has announced the release of a short film starring The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal who has become one of the most popular actors lately for his lead roles in the new HBO series as well as in Disney’s The Mandalorian.
The short film is titled A Twisted Game and will pick up the mysterious nature of the developer’s popular title Merge Mansion with a sneak peek at what’s coming in the game’s milestone update that’s scheduled to launch on March 28th.
“Merge Mansion has created a fascinating story centred around family drama filled with mystery and secrets that has captivated fans all around the world through their entertaining and unpredictable video campaigns,” said Pedro Pascal.
The short film is directed by Martin Werner who according to Pascal was, “So much fun working with,” in fulfilling the director’s vision and bringing the lore of Merge Mansion to life.
“This campaign has been a dream project for me. Getting the opportunity to translate the Merge Mansion game into a mockumentary short gave my production company Bacon and me the opportunity to flex all our filmic muscles,” said director Martin Werner.
He added that, “Being able to structure everything around a world-class actor like Pedro Pascal took the concept to a higher level and although Pedro is playing a fictional character here, the legacy of his previous work felt like it combined perfectly with our take on the Merge Mansion universe.”
The short film is cut into three different versions and will give fans a chance to join the investigation of Detective Tim Rockford (Pascal) as he investigates the family secrets of the Boulton family.
To celebrate the launch, Metacore will transform Los Angeles’ Paramour Estate into the Boulton family mansion for an immersive experience that is part live-action theatre, part escape room and a part lore museum where the team will be joined by Pascal and other special guests.
