Engage XR Holdings Plc is a metaverse technology company focused on becoming a leading global provider of virtual communications solutions. It has announced the launch of Athena, an augmented reality (AR) employee that integrates AI into a virtual reality (VR) environment for Engage enterprise clients.
Athena expands the concept of customer service chatbots to the next level, using Open AI programs like DALL.E and the highly talked about ChatGPT-3. This allows enterprise clients to have interactive conversations with the Engage metaverse’s avatar.
David Whelen, CEO and co-founder of ENGAGE commented, “The launch of Athena is going to open up endless possibilities for enterprise clients and change the future of the metaverse. With just a prompt or two, users can have full conversations with Athena inside the ENGAGE platform and ask her just about anything from completing simple tasks and answering basic questions to creating complex and unique installations within the metaverse.”
Typically, customer service chatbots are computer program interfaces that simulate human-like conversations through text or voice interactions. However, chatbots have now been programmed using keyboards and preset scripts that can limit their functionality and usefulness, which is where Athena’s AI comes in.
Athena can provide Engage clients with advice, answer questions, source media for playback, create AI imagery, find 3D objects, create sticky notes, and interact with key functions of the platform. This is done using an animated avatar body that gives users who interact with Athena a sense of speaking with a real-life human.
Only the beginning
“We named ENGAGE’s companion, Athena, after the Greek goddess of wisdom, handicraft and practical reason,” said Whelan. “As our clients continue to interact with Athena, she will expand her intelligence with each prompt and conversation. The introduction of Athena is only the beginning of an extensive roadmap we have planned for AI metaverse applications.”
In the forthcoming weeks, the company’s engineers will be adding more functionality and connectivity to enhance and improve Athena using various AI programs. Engage XR also plans to provide custom AI employees for its enterprise clients in the future, but it’ll come at a price.
