Binance Charity to fund scholarships for Web3

As part of the Scholarship Program, Binance intends to continue to help those interested in the Web3 space gain access to education

The online exchange Binance has announced it is intending to fund 30,665 scholarships in 2023. After funding 36,500 places last year.

The Scholar Program will grant access to training courses that will enable students to expand their learning without having to worry about financial costs. Since June 2022, Binance Charity has donated over $2.2 million BUSD (the fiat-backed stablecoin)

The philanthropic arm of Binance has revealed that over the past six months, it has received more than 82,000 applications to its Scholar Program. This program will give students access to some of the world’s best educational opportunities and fuel further innovations in the Web3 space.

An education in Web3

Binance launched the Scholar Program as it believes that crypto literacy is “the cornerstone of mass adoption.” Therefore the program will help to support those who are interested in the space and show promise within the field but would otherwise find the opportunity unavailable due to financial barriers. This ensures that the blockchain industry will see future talent and diversity within its ranks.

The program covers the cost of tuition and course fees at some of the world’s leading universities, colleges, and vocational training providers. In addition to this, Binance also provides opportunities for scholars to gain exposure. This means that the support of Binance remains available for the next step for students.

Head of Binance Charity Helen Hai commented that “The response to our Web3 education projects has been unprecedented. Showing the keen appetite of so many people to learn about blockchain, De-Fi, NFTs, coding, and much more. We’re seeing interest from a diverse range of people. Including a great ratio of women, which is something I feel particularly passionate about. With so many more education initiatives with amazing partners in the pipeline, we’ve never been more excited to build a more inclusive Web3 world.”

Future promise for Web3

Binance Charity has also partnered with Binance Academy, the non-profit blockchain education portal. So far Binance donations have funded 259,180 hours of Web3 education and training. The courses covered by the program can vary in length and commitment. Some opportunities are online and others offline.

Topics can cover a range of fields such as blockchain, coding, cryptocurrency, metaverse, and more. Binance intends to continue the program for years to come. This also acts in addition to the previously announced courses that Binance offered for free.
