The Easy Company has announced it has officially launched Easy, which it claims is the world’s first social wallet for Web3.
This social wallet is designed with complete cross-chain functionality and combines user-curated profiles with social discovery features. These profiles will help enable users to navigate the space of Web3. In addition to this, Easy is also launching a new community-sourced rating system, Signal. The rating system is intended to protect users from potential risks and scams across Web3.
The Easy Company has set out with a goal to make Web3 more accessible and safe for its users. The new profiles will allow users to customise profiles with the likes of NFTs and can show off or hide features they do or don’t want others to see. Since the platform is intended for cross-chain functionality users will be able to explore and perform transactions without switching apps.
A new Web3 wallet
Mike Dougherty, CEO, and co-founder at The Easy Company states that “Web3 is poised to fundamentally transform the internet as we know it. But to continue pushing innovation, new Web3 products have to support the needs of mainstream web users—and they need to be safe. The current generation of wallets is highly technical, complex, stressful to use, and fragments users across separate accounts and blockchains. This opens the door to scams and can lead to costly errors. The lack of social and community features for discovery also makes today’s wallets one-dimensional.”
The company has also announced the closing of its $14.2 million seed round, led by Lobby Capital, Relay Ventures, and 6th Man Ventures with participation from others. In addition to these round leaders, angel investors from across social and Web3 spaces also joined. With the likes of former heads of Instagram and Novi product engineering.
David Hornik, Partner at Lobby Capital noted that “Most Web3 applications are clunky and complex, Web3 will transform many aspects of our digital lives, but it will never reach its full potential unless developers start building applications for everyday users. When we first met with the team, we were blown away by the idea that navigating Web3 applications could be easy, beautifully designed, fun, and safe all at once—and the product lived up to its promise. We’re thrilled to partner with The Easy Company to bring Web3 to the mass consumer market.”
Accessibility
Easy’s social wallet has been designed and built by consumer web and mobile veterans from Disney, Apple, Microsoft and others. This new approach to wallet design has a keen focus on the user experience. Other features include a community feed that enables users to see what is happening in Web3 across multiple blockchains. A blockchain interest graph will help users see what is new and trending and follow their friend’s communities.
Gary Clayton, co-founder of The Easy Company spoke on the social wallet saying, “If we build experiences that make using Web3 as easy and safe as current consumer web designs, more users will come to Web3. Easy emphasises community because our mission is to make Web3 accessible for all.”
The Easy beta release is currently available now on both iOS and Android. Web3 spaces are still growing, one such area is the metaverse. With data that suggests 90% of consumers want to be active in the metaverse from next year.
