Porsche, the popular German automobile manufacturer that specializes in high-performance sports cars has announced that it is stepping into Web3 as it reveals its plans for a decentralized future.
As reported by nft now, Porsche plans on launching a 7,500-piece NFT collection based on its Porsche 911. Created by Hamburg designer and 3D artist Patrick Vogel, Porsche’s NFTs collection will be released in January 2023.
Lutz Meschke, Porsche’s deputy chairman and member of the executive board for finance and IT stated, “We’ve made our commitment for the long haul, and our Web3 team has every freedom to develop innovations in this dimension as well.”
Upon making a purchase, holders will also help in shaping the design of their NFTs. Also, holders can choose a “route” for their NFT Performance, Heritage, or Lifestyle and each of these routes will not only embody a specific aspect of the manufacturer’s premium brand identity but is also going to influence the design and character of the NFT.
In a conversation with nft now, Lars Krämer, Porsche’s manager of innovation & methods, said the team drew on “Porsche heritage, typical Porsche elements, and modern lifestyle to put together an exciting set of possible layers in a token-gated and creative journey.”
Apart from being able to shape the aesthetic of their NFTs, holders will also get exclusive access to experiences in both the virtual and real world.
Deniz Keskin, Porsche’s Director of Brand Management and Partnerships commented, “Venturing into new areas has always been the spirit of our brand. We are excited to enter Web3 with our first NFT collection. Our goal is an extension of our brand into a fully digital environment. And ideally, to meet new friends along the way.”
As more behemoth brands continue to leap Web3, a decentralized virtual world has never been more feasible.
