Pokémon Scarlet and Violet fans create an Ed Sheeran ‘off’ switch

The latest Pokémon titles feature one of the music artists’ singles in the credits, however, a new mod gives Ed the boot.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have been in the hands of trainers everywhere for over a week now and while the title has been warmly received it’s soundtrack has proved perhaps slightly more divisive.

In fact a new mod for the game removes Ed Sheeran’s song, Celestial, for those who found the cross-marketing, transmedia, brand-synergising (or perhaps just ‘the tune’) a little too distracting.

Sheeran is featured in the game through his song release Celestial which, as a long-time Pokémon fan stated that its inclusion was “an honour.” However, it would seem not everyone agrees as the mod strips the game of the song entirely. Instead, the single is replaced with a track from the late Japanese singer, Wada Koji.

So it would seem not everyone is an Ed Sheeran fan. Although, this mod has an alternate use as it could be helpful to streamers since Twitch has taken a disliking to streamers broadcasting the credit sequence which features the Celestial tune.

The release of the new games has also seen new collaborations such as the one with PUMA, which saw a series of Pokémon sneakers being released for fans.
