The key is ‘Concept Nyx’, a project Alienware’s Experience Innovation Group (EIG) currently has in the works. With Concept Nyx, players will seamlessly shift the games they are playing between screens throughout the household. In a press release, Alienware calls this project “The future of gaming.”
Concept Nyx will allow for high-performance game processing within homes and shared local networks. Edge computing will be essential to the project’s success. Due to local processing Concept Nyx could offer lower latency, greater bandwidth and better responsiveness.
Accordingly, Alienware’s solution will solve performance issues that occur in cloud gaming by focusing on local networks. This could severely reduce game lag and even reduce multiplayer latency to single-digit milliseconds.

With Concept Nyx, Alienware is attempting to allow for the streaming of up to four games from a game library while allowing for smart switching among devices. The company hopes to allow users to access all their games from a central game library despite purchases potentially occurring via different platforms.
