’Edge For Gamers’ Mode Coming To Microsoft’s Browser

The new mode comes with features that are designed to enhance the gaming experience for PC gamers

Microsoft is making a bigger push to win over gamers with a new feature ‘Edge for Gamers’ mode that’s designed to improve the user experience during both gaming and non gaming sessions.

According to Microsoft‘s initial descriptions, the Edge for Gamers mode will bring numerous improvements. It will feature a gaming-focused homepage as well as introduce specialised sidebar apps designed for gamers.

One of the more notable features is an efficiency mode specifically designed for PC gaming. This mode aims to optimise browser resource usage in order to maximise in-game performance. There’s also a dark mode with gaming-specific themes that provide customisation options to align with popular gaming aesthetics.

The mode could come in handy for gamers

For now, the Edge for Gamers feature is in early development. And although activating the mode will not deliver a significant browser experience, it will automatically redirect users to the themes section of the Edge Add-ons Store once enabled.

Popular gaming platforms apps like Twitch and Discord are also automatically added to the sidebar. Once the new mode goes live, users can simply go to the Appearance section of their browser setting and enable ‘Edge for Gamers’ beneath the Customise browser section.

Gamers looking to quickly stream their PC gameplay or engage with other players without the need to load additional apps would find this option useful. Another toggle labelled ‘“’Improve your PC gaming experience with Productivity Mode’ is also present. Enabling this mode reduces Edge’s CPU usage, leading to improved CPU performance when gaming.

The Windows company’s decision to bring this unique mode to users indicate a growing interest in customising product and features specifically for the gaming community.
