Amazon is creating a live-action God of War series and while few details are available, fans are already speculating who could play Kratos.
God of War hit PlayStation 2 consoles in 2005 and quickly became beloved by the gaming community. Several sequels followed before the series got a soft reboot with 2018’s God of War, which switched gears from Greek to Norse mythos and introduced Kratos’s son Atreus.
Christopher Judge voiced Kratos for both the recently released God of War Ragnarök and the preceding 2018 title. Judge brings more to the table than the deep gravelly voice of Kratos. He also acts as a body double for the buffed-out Spartan, so Judge could easily take on the role in the upcoming series. And as spotted by ComicBook.com, it seems the Kratos actor agrees.
When one fan went to Twitter expressing that Judge is the perfect candidate for the role, Judge responded, “Co-sign,” indicating his interest.

God of War in the MCU
However, Amazon may be looking for a bigger name such as Dave Bautista, to take the lead to gain more viewers. Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, has expressed interest in the role since it’s a scene with Drax that confirms God of War exists in the MCU –at least as a video game.
Speaking of the movie franchise, it’s the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special that recently dropped on Disney+, that confirms the existence of God of War in the MCU. In the special, Mantis and Drax visit the Hollywood Walk of fame. A woman states, “I got a picture with the God of War,” after she and her family snap a photo with the two Guardians. There’s no denying between the buff shirtless bod, bald head and scars that Drax and Kratos have a similar aesthetic.
Will we ever see Kratos bashing baddies in the MCU? Probably not. But with phase four’s emphasis on the multiverse, nothing’s impossible. And just imagine Dave Bautista’s Drax reacting to meeting Kratos, also played by Bautista.
